Your Library Card
All persons who wish to borrow materials must register to receive a library card.
Any one who is a resident or taxpayer of the town of Sharon is eligible to have a library card.
Please present identification (such as a valid driver’s license or post marked envelope) showing a current Sharon address.
Registration is quick – we will issue a library card to you and you will be able to borrow materials on that same day.
There are no age restrictions – we issue cards to children whenever the parent feels that the child is responsible enough to have one.
All library cards are valid for three years.
Your library card is valid at most public libraries in the state of Connecticut.
Out of town and non-Connecticut residents are invited to use their local library cards at the Hotchkiss Library.
And remember….
Your library card is free.
Circulation policies
Most materials circulate for a period of two weeks, with the exception of our
circuit DVDs, which circulate for a period of two days.
Renewals
Please call the library to request a renewal on an item.
Renewals cannot be done over the internet. They must be done on the phone or in person.
Fines
In lieu of late fees, we encourage voluntary donations to our “conscience box”
which is located at the front desk.
Lost or damaged materials
Lost or damaged materials will be billed to the borrower at the cost of
replacement to the library.
Searching our new electronic card catalog
Check the Hotchkiss Library for any book, DVD or audio you want. If we have
it, you can reserve it and come in
and pick it up. If the item is checked out, you can request it online and we

Inter-Library Loan
Search Regional Libraries.
This will allow you to search other libraries in our consortium for materials we
do not own. You can request it and the other library will send it to Sharon. We
will call you when it arrives. Click here

found what you want, you can request it and we will call you when it arrives in
