Children's Reader's Advisory

What should you read next? Below are lists of book recommendations for children. Click on the link to find a list and those in our collection.

Caldecott Winners- This children's book award is given to illustrators for the most outstanding contribution to children's book illustrations.

Newbury Winners- This award is given to the most outstanding contribution to children's literature.

Belpre Award- Named for Pura Belpre, the first Latina librarian in the New York Library, the award is given every year to a Latino/Latina author and illustrator whose work best affirms, presents, and culture in children and youth litterature.

Carnegie Medal- This award honors the most outstanding video production for children.

Geisel Award- Named for Theodore Geisel, commonly known as Dr. Seuss, the Geisel Award is given annually to the author and illustrator with the most oustanding work for early readers.

Oddessy Award- Awarded to the producer of the most outstanding contribution to children's audiobooks.

Robert Siebert Award- Awarded to the author and illustrators with the most distinguished contribution to informational books for children.

Wilder Award- This award honors author and illustrators whose work, published in the United States, has made a lasting contribution to children's literature.

Amelia Bloomer Project- Feminist literature for ages birth through 18.  Browse lists of books that feature strong female characters who face a number of different challenges.  The Amelia Bloomer Project features both fiction and non fiction titles.
